When applying for an apprenticeship, employers look above all at your school qualifications, your grades in relevant subjects and your motivation for this particular trade. A work experience placement in the right area is worth its weight in gold and should be clearly visible in your CV.
Use placements, part-time jobs, hobbies and involvement to show that you are reliable, willing to learn and motivated. A tidy, gap-free CV signals to the employer that you work carefully. Always tailor the strengths you highlight to the specific apprenticeship.
„Motivated school leaver with good GCSEs and a strong interest in engineering and metalwork. During my work experience placement at an engineering company I realised that practical, technical work suits me. I am reliable, willing to learn and looking forward to an engineering apprenticeship."

Personal details, your school record with qualification and relevant grades, placements, part-time jobs as well as hobbies and strengths. What matters is that your motivation for the trade comes across.
Very important. A work experience placement in the relevant field shows genuine interest and first practical experience. Make it stand out clearly in your CV.
Above all include grades in subjects that matter for the trade, for example maths and physics for technical roles or English and maths for commercial roles.
