One line, three facts

Write it as a verifiable statement, for example: Work authorization: F-1 OPT (EAD valid 07/2026 – 06/2027); no sponsorship required for this period. For CPT: F-1 CPT authorized through 05/2027 for internships in my field of study. Keep it factual and dated, and never state a status you cannot document – employers ask for the EAD or I-20 at offer stage.

What not to put on the resume

No visa stamp, passport or SEVIS numbers – privacy risk and irrelevant at screening.
No blanket requires sponsorship line unless it is true for the whole role duration.
No immigration history. One line is enough; the rest belongs in the conversation.

Translating a foreign degree and experience

US recruiters cannot map a foreign university or title, so do the work for them: give the US equivalent of the degree, the GPA on a 4.0 scale if strong, and the English title in brackets. Name the software and tools used in the US market, and state English proficiency only if your resume is otherwise ambiguous.

Timing the application

OPT applications take months to process, so apply for roles that start inside your authorized window and say so. Employers reject candidates whose start date falls outside the EAD period because the offer cannot be honoured; a dated line removes that doubt before it forms.

Some do for roles that need long-term continuity, particularly in defence and government contracting. Many private employers hire OPT graduates, especially when the role fits inside the authorized period.
